Redwire Corp. (RDW) saw an uptick in premarket trading following a contract awarded by Axiom Space. The contract involves supplying two Roll-Out Solar Array (ROSA) wings for Axiom Station’s second module, enhancing Redwire’s role in developing this commercial space station.
Redwire’s stock rose over 1% in premarket trading after a previous decline of more than 6% last week. This new contract reinforces the collaboration between Redwire and Axiom Space, with Redwire already supplying ROSA systems for the first module of Axiom Station.
Mike Gold, President of Redwire Space, noted the ROSA’s proven track record with the International Space Station, emphasizing its ability to deliver robust power for Axiom’s needs.
Redwire’s ROSA technology is advantageous as it offers expandable solar power while minimizing mass and volume compared to traditional panels. The company boasts a 100% success rate across various missions and is preparing for future lunar and Mars exploration missions.
Axiom Station aims to establish a permanent commercial presence in low-Earth orbit, supporting scientific research and human spaceflight activities. The first station module is currently in assembly in Italy, set to launch in 2028, with the second module expected to follow within a year.
