A Short Message from Scrooge

“Running to the window, he flung it open, thrusting his head out. No fog, no mist; clear skies, bright and lively; a crisp, invigorating chill in the air; golden sunlight streaming down; a heavenly sky above; the scent of fresh air; and the sweet sound of merry bells. Oh, how glorious! Glorious!

‘“What day is it?” shouted Scrooge, calling down to a boy dressed in his Sunday best, who may have lingered about, curious to see what was happening.

‘“EH?” the boy replied, filled with astonishment.

‘“What day is it, my fine lad?” asked Scrooge.

‘“Today!” replied the boy. “Why, it’s CHRISTMAS DAY!”

‘“It’s Christmas Day!” exclaimed Scrooge to himself. “I haven’t missed it! The Spirits have accomplished everything in one night. They can do anything they wish. Of course they can. Halloo, my fine fellow!”’

You Haven’t Missed It

Indeed, you haven’t missed it. Thankfully, it’s still Christmas Eve, meaning there’s ample time left to revel in the joy of the season.

On this meaningful day of redemption and reunion, we’ll set aside our usual reflections on the economy and financial landscapes to share more of this timeless scene from Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol…

Scrooge Was Better Than His Word

“Scrooge was true to his word. He did all that he promised and even more; to Tiny Tim, who lived, he became like a second father. He transformed into a better friend, a better employer, and a better man than anyone in the good old city—or any other good old place in the world—had ever known.

“Some people chuckled at the changes in him, but he let them laugh and paid them little mind; for he understood that nothing good happens in this world without attracting some laughter, especially at the beginning. Recognizing that such individuals would always remain blind to progress, he preferred that they contort their faces in laughter rather than display their criticism in less pleasant ways. His own heart was filled with joy, and that was enough for him.

“He no longer had interactions with Spirits but adhered to a life of Total Abstinence going forward. It was often said of him that he truly knew how to celebrate Christmas, more so than any man alive. May that sentiment be true for all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim wisely proclaimed, God bless Us, Every One!”

Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,
