Liam Neeson, 73, Trains 5 Days a Week: Short Workouts for Action-Ready Fitness

Unlocking the Secrets of Liam Neeson’s Fitness Routine

Liam Neeson has become synonymous with action-packed roles, showcasing not just his acting skills but also his physical prowess. His commitment to fitness allows him to tackle demanding scenes while maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Despite his rigorous demands, Neeson emphasizes that maintaining fitness doesn’t have to take over one’s life.

During an interview with Film Inside while filming The Commuter, he stated, “I keep very fit in life. You have to when doing these sorts of films.” This highlights the necessity of fitness in his career, yet also his ability to prioritize without obsession.

Balance is a recurring theme in his approach. As he puts it, “I don’t get obsessed about it, but I keep fit.” For instance, during the filming of The Commuter, he would wake up at 5:15 AM to fit in a quick 45-minute gym session before heading to the studio.

The days were long, often requiring him to catch a brief 20-minute nap before joining the stunt team for rehearsal. “They were long days, but beautiful. They were great days,” he reflected, illustrating how he maintains a positive mindset amidst long hours.

When discussing his workout frequency, Neeson shares a refreshingly flexible approach—training around five days a week. However, he emphasizes the importance of listening to his body. “Sometimes I’ll do maybe just 20 minutes. The next day I might do an hour.” This underscores the principle of adapting workouts to how you feel, ensuring you stay in reasonable shape without the pressure of a strict routine.

Neeson’s interviews consistently reveal his preference for regular movement over strict and punishing schedules. He incorporates boxing, power walking, and fight rehearsals, enabling him to remain physically capable and stunt-ready as he ages gracefully into his 60s and 70s.
