Hopia Latte and More: Mabuhay Craft Coffee’s Lunar New Year Offerings

Have you ever thought about enjoying your favorite foods in a drinkable form? As the Lunar New Year draws near, Mabuhay Craft Coffee in San Juan City is turning this idea into reality with a selection of drinks that capture the essence of Filipino-Chinese culinary heritage.

Their Mabu-Hei Fat Choi Collection artfully blends nostalgic flavors from beloved treats with Mabuhay’s signature espresso, resulting in beverages that are both comforting and fun.

According to founder Chef Kel Zaguirre, this year’s collection draws inspiration from cherished family customs.

“Around this time each year, just after Christmas, my mom would always buy Chinese or Filipino-Chinese treats from Binondo for our family to enjoy, especially stocking up on tikoy for the Chinese New Year,” Zaguirre shared with PhilSTAR L!fe. “These traditions inspired me to create recipes that highlight the food I loved growing up. Staying true to Mabuhay’s goal, this series aims to give life to Filipino traditions, nostalgia, and customs.”
