At just 23, Palmer is navigating his way back to form after dealing with injury setbacks, including groin issues and a broken toe earlier this season. He’s keen to fully embrace his potential as soon as he can. Making only his 12th start for the season, Palmer expressed his relief in contributing to the team.
“It felt great to score and help the team secure three points,” he shared with BBC Match of the Day after the match. “However, I’m not at 100% fitness just yet. Many people might not see what goes on behind the scenes; dealing with injuries all season isn’t ideal. It’s tough to perform at my best while managing these issues, but I’m hopeful I can overcome them soon and regain my full performance level.”
He continued, “Although I’m not fully fit at the moment, I believe I can support the team. Once I’m back to my best, I know it will elevate my game.”
So far this season, Palmer has scored seven league goals, with four of those coming from the penalty spot.
