Israel, Trump, and Europe’s Influence on Narrative Control

This week marks our fundraising initiative at Naked Capitalism. Already, 401 supporters have contributed to our mission of tackling corruption and exploitative practices, especially in the financial sector. We invite you to join us by visiting our donation page, where you can find options to donate via check, credit card, debit card, PayPal, Clover, or Wise. You can also read about the purpose behind this fundraiser, our achievements over the past year, and our current objective, which involves supporting new Coffee Break/Sunday Movie features.

Western powers appear to be desperately vying for control over the narrative, making it increasingly challenging to separate intentional deception from sheer delusion or foolishness.

This article will focus specifically on Israel’s attempts, particularly as described by Alistair Crooke, regarding its “8th front,” which is its struggle to influence public opinion in the United States. Crooke argues that Israel is faltering in this endeavor, a sentiment echoed by The Times of Israel.

Additionally, please note that the sources and quotes included are part of a broader discussion occurring across various online platforms. I’ve utilized X.com (formerly Twitter) and YouTube to keep track of commentary from other social media channels, such as Instagram, TikTok, Telegram, and Twitch.

This entry includes a higher-than-usual number of embedded tweets since much of the current conversation is taking place on Twitter. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause; feel free to request separate quotes in the comments if needed.

As a reminder, the embedded tweets come from a range of sources; these inclusions should not be interpreted as endorsements. Many accounts are anonymous, and none of the contributors or sources should be taken at face value—as various interests and biases are at play. I’ve aimed to choose reliable sources and well-supported posts that contribute meaningfully to the narrative presented here.

Israel’s Desperate Rush for Narrative Control in the U.S.

As support for Israel wanes in the U.S., particularly among Democrats and younger individuals—and even young Republicans, as noted by Brookings—Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu is intensifying efforts to shape public perception in America.

In a recent interview on Glenn Greenwald’s Rumble channel, Tucker Carlson claimed that Netanyahu has been asserting control over the U.S. and Donald Trump while making the rounds in the Middle East.

This behavior reveals a level of insecurity and desperation that is concerning and potentially reckless.

Netanyahu has also reportedly been engaging with influencers, boasting about Israel’s control of TikTok, particularly in light of Oracle’s recent acquisition, as well as control over X.com.

As described by Aaron Maté: “Liberals and many progressives spent years fixated on mythical Russian oligarchs controlling U.S. democracy and the equally mythical ‘Russian interference’ infiltrating our information systems. All along, the actual foreign interference was right in front of their faces.”

Influencer Tactics

While perhaps less critical than the TikTok strategy, Netanyahu’s “influencer-heavy” campaign aims to sway young American public opinion. Social media influencers have a far greater reach among those under 35 compared to traditional media. Unfortunately, many lack a nuanced understanding of politics and may ease into supporting harmful ideologies.

Recently, Netanyahu welcomed several American influencers, and the official X account of the Prime Minister of Israel showcased images from the meeting:

Critics quickly pointed out which influencers were recruited by Netanyahu, as illustrated by a right-wing user on X:

Some of these individuals raise eyebrows:

Additionally, another influencer quickly began distributing questionable content for Netanyahu, and her connections extend into Hollywood:

Max will share additional insights on Israel’s influence in Hollywood later in the post. However, one influencer demonstrated to be less effective in attracting engagement:

The assistance from influencers is vital, especially with the shift in leadership roles at key organizations like Turning Point USA, previously led by Charlie Kirk.

Notably, Netanyahu was one of the first to comment on Kirk’s passing, crafting a polished tweet on a day when military actions were being undertaken against multiple neighboring countries:

Subsequently, he denied any Israeli involvement in Kirk’s death:

The prominent libertarian comedian Tim Dillon addressed Netanyahu’s assertions with Max Blumenthal:

Ben Shapiro has taken the helm at Turning Point USA, quickly announcing his new role in a post that hinted at a grim transition and was made on September 11, the day after Kirk’s death.

He has also faced allegations of influencing a hostile takeover of the organization, with Shapiro’s financial contributions reportedly securing this transition by September 15.

Although Shapiro’s platform, The Daily Wire, has reportedly been experiencing declining viewership since he lost Candace Owens over Gaza policies, there is urgency from his camp to introduce a fresh face to appeal to the MAGA demographic:

Hollyhand appears to have connections with staffers from notorious AIPAC-affiliated Congress members:

Hollyhand’s demeanor reflects an outdated cultural archetype reminiscent of the Old South aristocracy, a demographic that once wielded wealth but lost significant cultural influence post-Civil War:

At the University of Texas, an individual like Hollyhand would typically be described as having strong “Kappa Alpha, Birmingham chapter” vibes.

UPDATE: Hollyhand may be exaggerating his ties with TPUSA.

Hollywood’s Propaganda Efforts

In addition to influencer tactics, Israel has been active in mainstream media. Max Blumenthal recently shared examples of “Hollywood hasbara”:

Paramount is also producing a documentary:

An upcoming mini-series titled Red Alert, set to air on October 7, depicts the tragic assault in Israel:

Paramount+ has released an emotional first trailer for a forthcoming four-part limited series illustrating the October 7, 2023 tragedy in Israel. The project is titled Red Alert and recounts the devastating event marking the largest and deadliest massacre in Israel’s history, wherein over 1,200 concert-goers, families, and individuals near the Gaza border were killed, with 250 others kidnapped by Hamas. The production includes contributions from Pulp Fiction producer Lawrence Bender and Homeland producer Keshet Media Group.

Red Alert intertwines the authentic experiences of survivors within a cinematic narrative, showcasing the despair and resolve that emerged amidst that chaos.

Due to Kirk’s assassination, at least one Hollywood hasbara project has faced delays, as noted by the New York Times:

Apple TV+ has postponed the release of its series “The Savant,” featuring Jessica Chastain as an undercover investigator infiltrating extremist groups to prevent mass shootings. The show was scheduled to stream its first two episodes on Friday, but Apple cited “careful consideration” without providing an official reason for the delay.

Oracle, Paramount, and TikTok: The Bigger Picture

In closing, I want to emphasize the significance of Netanyahu’s connection with TikTok ownership.

Israel is increasingly blamed for spurring anti-Chinese sentiment, which was leveraged as justification for last year’s Congressional decision to push for TikTok’s change of ownership:

Additionally, the influence of Larry and David Ellison through Oracle, and its acquisition of Paramount, represents a significant alteration in the media landscape.

As reported by Wired, Larry Ellison is often referred to as a “shadow president,” which raises concerns about the concentration of media power:

With human attention becoming an invaluable asset, the Ellisons could dominate various sectors by the end of this year. Sources indicate that Ellison is now poised to play a significant role in owning TikTok’s U.S. version, for which Oracle already provides hosting services. Under son David Ellison’s control, a media empire may emerge, extending from significant sports media acquisitions to potential ownership of networks like CBS or CNN.

My previous posts have explored the ties between Ellison, Oracle, Paramount, Israel, and the Trump Administration, which delve into the implications of these developments.

There’s much to unpack regarding the influence of figures like Elliot and Emanuel, who navigate fluctuating media dynamics in the intertwined worlds of politics and entertainment.

In light of the volatile interaction between the U.S. political landscape, technological enterprises, and Israel’s narrative control efforts, the current moment manifests a complex interplay of delusion and urgency—both from those in power and those pulling strings behind the scenes.

I will continue this series with a focus on the disinformation campaigns being waged by the EU, the UK, and Ukraine, each striving for dominance over public opinion within and beyond their borders.
