Thanks to the generosity of over 880 members of the Naked Capitalism community, we have successfully navigated our first milestone: securing essential IT support and defenses. Our second goal involves enhancing the comments section, followed by sustaining our popular Coffee Break feature, and finally, expanding our Links section.
Your enthusiastic responses to the Double Your Donations campaign from our benefactors have resulted in significant contributions. That said, we are still trailing behind our targeted goals, despite the average donation amount being consistent with last year. We urge our regular readers who haven’t yet contributed to dig deep and help us achieve our objectives, ensuring the continued smooth operation of this site. You can make your crucial contribution directly at the Tip Jar>.
Currently, we have raised $2,045 towards our next target of $39,000, aiming to offer significant financial recognition to our guest writers, including our fantastic new Coffee Break team.
As seasoned readers are aware, we operate on the traditional Wall Street partnership model: a modest guaranteed payment sourced from monthly subscriptions and fundraiser donations for our Coffee Break writers. Additionally, bonuses are awarded based on both individual and overall site performance for the year.
Over the years, we have consistently improved the caliber of contributors at Naked Capitalism. We aim to provide substantial honorariums to our mainstay writers—Conor, Nick, KLG—and our newer voices—Haig, Nat, Curro, and semper loquitur—through our fundraising efforts.
These writers have made significant adaptations in their work to capture the complexities of late-stage capitalism, especially with the added pressures from today’s political landscape and socioeconomic challenges. For instance, where would we be without Conor’s insightful coverage of emerging global hotspots (often as a result of U.S. interference), or his critiques of the so-called Abundance con? Nick has been instrumental in addressing the nuances of Latin America, documenting events from the Milei spectacle to U.S. interventions in Mexico and Venezuela, along with advocacy against the rise of surveillance-focused digital currencies. KLG has broadened his focus on questionable practices in medical and biosciences research, including illuminating the war against scientifically grounded practices, Covid analyses, and providing essential social commentary.
Haig presents a comprehensive view of military developments, exploring both pressing issues like drone warfare and the future of Iran’s nuclear ambitions, alongside the historical misuse of bribery and propaganda in entertainment. Nat, in tandem with Nick and Conor, has examined the agendas of tech billionaires in the U.S., delving into their messaging and surveillance efforts, shutdown dynamics, and the fracturing political alliances in Gaza. Curro shared firsthand insights from the BRICS 2025 conference, assessing the EU’s societal collapse and the implications of Latin America for Trump’s vision of a new world order. Lastly, semper loquitur enriches our weekend experience with a much-cherished movie feature, offering a needed mental health break.
Despite compensating our contributors to ensure a reliably scheduled output, writing remains a poorly paid profession. Our distinguished writers consistently deliver in-depth analyses at an impressive pace, a testament to their extensive experience and expertise.
We also wish to extend our monetary “thank yous” to Thomas Neuburger and other writers whose contributions enhance our platform.
Here are some supportive messages from our readers. From Adrien:
Bonjour Yves,
Done! If we don’t contribute to NC today, when will we? I am immensely grateful for NC and your team for their unwavering dedication day in and day out.
We cannot lose hope or submit to despair. We must persevere. That’s how we’ve overcome obstacles in our lives thus far, and we know how to do it again. The challenge is bigger this time.
Working daily to improve our country, to inform our people, and to empower them is a worthwhile pursuit. That’s the essence of NC, and it represents an invaluable public service I am proud to support. Long live NC!
Wishing you and your team a wonderful weekend.
From Mark S:
Naked Capitalism is my first read every morning with my coffee. I can no longer remember how I discovered your site, but I have been hooked since before the crash. I believe NC is the best information source available at any price. The check is for $500.
From Tim S:
Thank you for your exceptional coverage, especially given all the changes over the past year. Lambert was fantastic, and I miss his wit and insight, but the new team is doing a commendable job with a broader range of content.
From Dan K:
Coffee Break has become my nearly daily read. Great job!
From Rick C:
I have increased my contribution this year despite my retirement income remaining unchanged, as this site is more essential than ever. Thank you for all your hard work; it is greatly appreciated.
