On February 2, 2026, a significant salmonella outbreak linked to superfood supplements has escalated, as reported by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This situation warrants attention, particularly for those who may have consumed these products.
The outbreak has been identified as originating from Live it Up-brand dietary supplements, which were distributed across the country via Amazon and the company’s official website. In an act of “abundance of caution,” Live it Up issued a recall of its products on January 15. Additionally, another brand, Why Not Natural, added one of its products to the recall list on January 28.
Since the FDA’s last update on January 15, another twenty individuals have reported illness linked to the outbreak, bringing the total to 65 affected people across 28 states. Among those infected, 14 have required hospitalization, although no fatalities have been recorded as of January 29.

Recognizing Symptoms of Salmonella Poisoning
Symptoms of salmonella poisoning typically manifest six hours to six days after ingesting the bacteria. Common symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
While most healthy individuals can recover within four to seven days without medical intervention, certain groups—such as children under five, adults over 65, and those with weakened immune systems—may face more severe symptoms that require medical care or hospitalization.
If you experience any of the following severe symptoms, the CDC recommends contacting your healthcare provider:
- Diarrhea accompanied by a fever exceeding 102 degrees Fahrenheit
- Diarrhea lasting more than three days without improvement
- Bloody diarrhea
- Vomiting to the extent that liquids cannot be retained
- Signs of dehydration, such as infrequent urination, dry mouth and throat, and dizziness upon standing
As this situation develops, it’s crucial for consumers to stay informed and take necessary precautions regarding their health and safety. If you believe you may have been affected, reach out to your healthcare provider promptly.
