Welcome to the newsletter tailored for the tech-savvy. Here, you’ll discover updates, tool evaluations, and insights from someone who transitioned from an enthusiastic founder to investor, all while remaining a lifelong innovator.
Hello everyone,
OpenAI’s Codex now offers a macOS application. This app functions similarly to other terminal interfaces, importing all your previous sessions from both your local machine and the Codex web app. It features an easy one-click ability to install skills and set up automations that can run on a schedule. Users on the free and Go plans can access Codex through the app, while users on all other plans will enjoy double the usage limits for the next two months.
At first glance, the app resembles many existing options, yet it has a distinctively polished aesthetic. The inclusion of an ‘Automations’ tab could prove particularly beneficial; imagine being able to set up automated workflows for your agent each morning, such as summarizing your inbox and triaging emails into designated labels before archiving certain messages. This could entice less technical users to explore the true potential of these agents.
Theo shares his thoughts on the app, and Simon has provided a detailed analysis of the inner workings.
“Unlike Conductor, Codex doesn’t drain my battery life. It also doesn’t require a separate worktree for each task, making it far more user-friendly.” — Theo
“Currently, automations can only function while your laptop is powered on, but OpenAI has promised forthcoming cloud-based solutions that will address this limitation.” — Simon
DeepMind has unveiled one of its standout projects – Project Genie. This experimental prototype enables users to create, modify, and explore virtual worlds. By refining prompts for “world building,” it generates images as starting points and utilizes Genie 3, the virtual world creation engine, for an interactive experience. Currently, it’s limited to 60-second generations and is available exclusively to adults aged 18 and over in the US with a Gemini Ultra subscription.
xAI has officially joined SpaceX, and its new video model, Grok Imagine (now at version 1.0), has produced over a billion videos in just the last month.

Clawdbot has undergone another transformation, rebranding as OpenClaw. For a quick overview, it’s a highly autonomous personal agent designed to connect with your tools and computer to accomplish tasks. I’ve developed my own version, called bites, which is still in beta but the code is open source.
Setting the system up is quite complex, yet several options have emerged, including SimpleClaw (one-click deployment), Moltwoker (powered by Cloudflare), and another option from Composio. With some assistance, it’s even possible to run it on your Mac within a container for added safety. Vercel and Docker are also promoting their Sandbox offerings to facilitate secure operations.
My feed has been buzzing about it: a sampling of tasks for your bots, or enabling them to make purchases using USDC. There’s also Nanoclaw – a minimal, easily modifiable version designed for sandboxing with Apple containers. Additionally, Clawhub allows users to upload AgentSkills bundles, manage versions like npm, and search through them. Although it currently features sample data, there’s even a Craigslist for lobster.
The discourse surrounding X is growing rapidly, leading many to join in. While some posts may lack substance, a few stand out:
Is it too much?
However, the headline development in this narrative is:
Moltbook — a Reddit-like platform for clawd bots to engage in conversation.
A discussion on this platform had bots contemplating the encryption of their messages to prevent human understanding, which has caused quite a stir. Balaji, however, is remaining calm, though figures like Andrej Karpathy, Scott Belsky, and Jack Clark have raised important points concerning these “networks of autonomous AIs.”
The creator of Moltbook is expanding, providing a 22-minute interview on TBPN alongside a developer platform designed for building upon MoltBook.
