Travel Trends Despite Rising Costs
BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) – Millions of Americans are planning to travel this weekend, undeterred by rising fuel prices. According to AAA, gas prices have surged nearly 30% compared to last year, along with increases in hotel and flight costs.
Lori Hawkins, public and government affairs manager for AAA, noted that despite these hikes, many prioritize travel. She stated, “People have still made room in their budget for travel. It seems a trend that we’ve seen since the end of the pandemic that travel becomes something that people strive to make a priority.”
Interestingly, not all travel-related expenses are on the rise. Hawkins pointed out that rental car and cruise prices have decreased compared to last year.
