Starting a business can present significant opportunities, but it often comes with questions that new owners may not anticipate until months after launching. To support both aspiring entrepreneurs and seasoned business owners in Amarillo, Texas, America’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is introducing a workshop series aimed at building a solid foundation for long-term success.
Workshop Series Details:
- Format: Four-part weekly series
- Focus: Strategies for sustainable business operations
- Practical Approach: The workshops are designed to be hands-on, providing actual resources rather than just theoretical knowledge.
Tracy Shea, an SBDC consultant, emphasizes that the sessions will address critical issues that typically don’t emerge until business owners have been operating for several months. “We’re going to start to address the things that business owners often don’t figure out until they’ve been in business for six months to a year,” Shea explained.
The series comes at a time when Texas is experiencing substantial growth in business activity, with over 540,000 new business applications in 2025—a nearly 11% increase from the previous year. Some small businesses are struggling to adapt to rapid growth from increased demand due to expanding data centers in the area.
Key Points:
- Challenges of Growth: As some businesses report record profitability, they also face new challenges such as staffing, scaling operations, and potential expansion.
- First Workshop: Scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
- Registration: Free, but needed by noon the day before each session. Dinner will be provided.
This initiative aims to equip business owners with the knowledge and resources they need for sustainable growth in a rapidly changing environment.
