For the past seven years, Avinash Tiwary has maintained a consistent and healthy culinary routine, relying on a simple homemade dish of brown rice and chicken pulao. This meal, which can be prepared in just 15 minutes, reflects his commitment to disciplined eating. During a recent interview, the Laila Majnu actor discussed the ease that this cooking method brings to his daily meals.
“For nearly five to seven years, I have been making this dish. It requires very little oil—just half a teaspoon. The recipe includes onions, ginger, garlic, a mix of spices, chicken, water, brown rice, and turmeric. Pressure cook it for 3-4 seeti, and your lunch or dinner is ready. It’s a chicken pulao that takes care of all your macros,” he shared with Curly Tales.

Edwina Raj, the Head of Services for Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics at Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore, explained that this culinary routine has become a crucial aspect of Tiwary’s lifestyle. Its simplicity, nutritional balance, and quick preparation help him remain fit and energized, steering clear of unhealthy takeout.
Breaking Down Tiwary’s Dinner Habit
“Brown rice offers slow-release energy due to its high fiber content, while chicken provides lean protein crucial for muscle strength and recovery. By adhering to this meal for almost seven years, Tiwary demonstrates impressive consistency and focus—qualities essential in the film industry for maintaining body weight and stamina,” Raj elaborated.
She noted that the recipe itself is straightforward, combining cooked brown rice with lightly spiced chicken and vegetables like carrots or beans. Essential ingredients such as onions, garlic, and mild spices allow for quick, one-pan preparation, making it ideal for those with busy lifestyles.
Gut health nutritionist Payal Kothari described Tiwary’s eating habit as monotrophic, which centers on consuming a single food type for 24 to 72 hours. This minimalist approach to eating simplifies the dietary process.
“This dietary style is based on the idea that limiting food combinations can ease digestion, enabling the body to efficiently break down and absorb nutrients. Consuming just one food type prevents overwhelming the digestive system with complex combinations, which can sometimes lead to bloating and discomfort,” Kothari explained to Indian Express.

Raj added that such a diet helps reduce decision fatigue, as sticking to the same nutritious meal daily eliminates confusion about food choices, saves time, and controls calorie intake. “Even though variety is generally recommended in diets, a structured eating routine can still be effective if the body receives essential nutrients, hydration, and the occasional change,” she noted, emphasizing that this habit showcases how simple, home-cooked meals can support long-term fitness goals when embraced with discipline and balance.
