HyperX CloudX Flight 2 Wireless Review
Overview
The HyperX CloudX Flight 2 is an entry-level gaming headset with strong console compatibility, officially licensed for Xbox. It connects seamlessly to Xbox consoles and works well with PC, PlayStation, Switch, Mac, and mobile devices. This review summarizes the performance and features of the headset based on a two-week testing period.
Build and Comfort
- Design: Constructed from plastic with a metal headband, the CloudX Flight 2 has RGB lighting and removable earcup plates, providing a premium look for its price range.
- Comfort: Weighing 335 grams, the headset is comfortable for extended gaming sessions, though it can feel a bit warm due to the leatherette materials.
- Controls: Featuring a microphone mute button, power button, and a multifunction button, the headset also includes a scroll wheel for easy volume adjustments.
App Integration
The HyperX NGENUITY app unlocks advanced features:
- Spatial Audio: Transforms standard audio into a virtual surround experience.
- Equalizer: Users can customize sound profiles with basic and advanced EQ settings.
- Microphone Settings: Includes presets like high, mid, and low boosts, and options for noise cancellation.
Connectivity
- Wireless Connection: The headset connects through a 2.4 GHz dongle or Bluetooth 5.3 (supports SBC and AAC codecs).
- Compatibility: Officially licensed for Xbox but also compatible with other consoles and devices. Unfortunately, there are no wired options.
Battery Life
- Duration: Claims up to 100 hours on 2.4 GHz and 150 hours on Bluetooth when RGB is off; RGB usage drops these figures significantly to around 20-23 hours.
Sound Performance
- Audio Quality: Ideal for casual gaming, particularly action/adventure genres. The sound profile is suited to console gamers but may not meet the needs of competitive players.
- Noise Isolation: While passive noise isolation is present, there is no active noise cancellation. The headset effectively minimizes treble frequencies.
Microphone Quality
The boom microphone provides clear speech with excellent background noise rejection, making it a good choice for noisy environments. The headset also features a built-in mic for casual use.
Conclusion
The HyperX CloudX Flight 2 Wireless is a solid choice for casual console gamers, especially at sales prices around $99. Though it shines in its design and comfort, the lack of wired connection and absence of advanced features may push some users to consider alternatives.
