Ag Sciences Clubs Receive Generous Support from Welcoming Agricultural Company

Penn State Agricultural Clubs Receive Support from Pivot Bio

University Park, Pa. – Three clubs in Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences recently received a significant boost thanks to a generous gift from Pivot Bio, a company that focuses on optimizing crop production through tailored nitrogen delivery solutions.

The donation coincided with the company’s visit to the University Park campus on September 26, which was also the day of Penn State’s Homecoming football game against the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The funds will benefit the Agribusiness Management, Agronomy, and Dairy Science clubs.

This visit was part of Pivot Bio’s Year of One Million Thanks Buddy Seat Tour, aimed at celebrating and thanking farmers across the nation.

Troy Ott, the Peter and Ann Tombros Dean of Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences, attended the event along with club members to accept the gift. He expressed gratitude, stating, “Student success through hands-on learning and involvement is a core tenet of the College of Agricultural Sciences. We’re thankful for Pivot Bio’s support, which will help fuel the academic and professional journeys of our students.”

Travis Frey, chief technology officer at Pivot Bio and a Penn State alumnus, highlighted the significance of both universities in the agricultural sector. He noted, “These universities helped shape how I think about science and its potential to expand what’s possible for farmers. But the real measure of innovation is what happens when it reaches the farm.”

The Year of One Million Thanks Tour includes a tractor symbolizing the resilience of American agriculture. The tractor, known as the Grati-Tractor, was sourced from Tom Boedeker of Boedeker Brothers Farm, a fourth-generation family operation in Missouri.

The Agribusiness Management Club focuses on professional and educational development in the food and agriculture industry, while the Agronomy Club caters to students interested in agronomy, plant science, and related fields. The Dairy Science Club welcomes students from all disciplines with an interest in the dairy industry, emphasizing promotional and educational events.

This support for student organizations aligns with the University’s land-grant mission to serve and lead, helping students prepare for success and driving economic development and outreach efforts across communities. For more information, visit raise.psu.edu.
