The Illusion of Adult Day Care

Summer’s peak brings bright sunshine across the northern hemisphere. Yet, in America, while our lands bask under this warmth, a shroud of shadows seems to hang ominously over the so-called land of the free.

Take Senator Mark Warner, for instance – a rather misguided individual – who is attempting to shield the Democrats from scrutiny by proposing regulations aimed at silencing political dissent. However, for Warner and his allies, criticisms aren’t treated equally. Critiquing President Trump is not only permissible but often encouraged; it’s the critique of Washington elites, like Warner himself, that they seek to stifle.

Warner justifies his proposed legislation by framing it as a measure against the specter of Russian disinformation. Ironically, this means compromising our freedom of speech in the name of preserving it. According to Zero Hedge and Martin Armstrong, here’s what this entails…

“The Democrats demand complete transparency regarding online political discourse. They are advocating for the Federal Trade Commission to wield substantial authority, necessitating that the algorithms used by all companies be audited by federal staff, despite their questionable qualifications.”

“Furthermore, major tech platforms would be required to share internal data and procedures with so-called ‘independent public interest researchers’ to uncover possible ‘public health concerns, anticompetitive practices, radicalization,’ scams, ‘misinformation propagated by users,’ and harassment—data that could influence regulatory or congressional actions.”

Constrained Speech

Under this proposal, speech would only be free if deemed acceptable by these ‘public interest researchers.’ Effectively, what they label as ‘free speech’ would be anything but.

It’s through free speech that we can fearlessly voice our opinions, whether that’s calling President Trump a “blowhard” with outlandish hair or criticizing Hillary Clinton as a political failure. Would these ‘public interest researchers’ find such expressions unacceptable?

Alarmingly, a large portion of the population seems elated by Warner’s crusade against free speech. They appear indifferent to hearing opposing views that don’t align with their progressive ideals.

This is likely the same group that supports policies of enforced charity, believing the nation’s ills can be remedied by redistributing wealth from those who earn it to those who squander it.

Before delving deeper, let’s shift gears and consider some tangible reflections on our natural and practical world…

Lessons in Character Development

Anyone who has navigated the challenges of a major project gone awry understands that professional endeavors are seldom straightforward and rarely tidy. A single person’s well-meaning intentions can easily derail a project’s goals. A forgotten regulation or a supply chain disruption can thrum chaos through the timeline and budget.

Nonetheless, engaging in the proverbial meat grinder offers numerous opportunities to cultivate character, regardless of whether one desires to embrace a slice of humility.

For instance, roughly a decade ago, a client waved a report we had crafted in the air, yelling, “This is garbage!” Following that, he animatedly expressed his thoughts with a bit more vigor.

On another occasion, right after we presented a table designed to track a project’s progress, a client bluntly told us, “Tables are for fools.”

We’ve been told, over lunch, that we carried “the significance of a gnat on an elephant’s backside,” ironically delivered right after being accused of not delivering on a significant project.

Countless times, we’ve had our schedules abruptly expedited, only to be criticized for a delayed submission. We’ve endured additional demands on our scope without appropriate budget adjustments, leading to a perpetual state of urgency.

After pouring months into developing the perfect product, we faced a market reaction as cold as that seen in a congregation during a sermon about tithes. The outcome resembles watching a wad of cash engulfed in flames—poof!—and it’s gone without a trace left behind.

The Illusion of Adult Day Care

Indeed, we’ve experienced countless monumental failures. Yet, we persist, accepting setbacks with resilience and perhaps a hint of irony. Frankly, we wouldn’t want it any other way.

The harsh truth is that the world owes us nothing. Unfortunately, this reality seems lost on individuals like Warner and the growing Democratic Socialist movement led by figures like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Instead of advocating for individual freedom, they seek to centralize power in the hands of the state, aiming to control and dictate thoughts, beliefs, and expressions. They promise a failure-free existence in return.

In addition, they envision a fabricated economy featuring make-believe jobs and meaningless tasks. They suggest adult day care environments where individuals receive a livable wage simply for being present, engaging in trivial activities. There’s even a plan for those who prefer to avoid participation but still expect payment: they merely demand that you finance them.

Moreover, they expect you to cover the costs of free housing, medical care, food, and education. In an absurd twist, they propose that you pay for your neighbor’s solar panels, granting them free electricity at your expense.

The disheartening result mirrors what occurred in the Soviet Union in 1989, or Cuba in 1995, or even in Venezuela and North Korea more recently.

Fake economies, where individual failure and dissenting opinions are stifled, are destined for collapse. If you disagree, just wait and witness the truth unfold.

Sincerely,
