Tenable Launches AI Tool for Unified Cyber Risk Management

In the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity, Tenable has introduced an innovative solution known as Tenable One AI Exposure. This latest iteration of its Tenable One Exposure Management Platform focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence for improved discovery, protection, and governance throughout enterprise environments.

Tenable announced that this new product is capable of identifying the deployment and usage of AI across various platforms, including SaaS, cloud services, APIs, and agents. Moreover, Sevenabl employs AI-related findings by linking them to broader cyber risk indicators within the same platform.

AI Exposure

Tenable has identified what it refers to as an “AI Exposure Gap.” This gap arises from the disparate locations of AI tools and services spread across applications, infrastructure, identities, agents, and data. The company notes that many security teams struggle to obtain visibility into where AI is utilized, what data or processes it interacts with, who has access, and how users engage with it.

This latest release is positioned as an enhancement of Tenable’s existing exposure management strategy, extending its focus to encompass risks related to AI. Tenable treats AI exposure as an integral part of the broader attack surface and risk landscape that organizations already monitor for cybersecurity purposes.

Discovery and Context

Tenable One AI Exposure is designed to continuously discover and track AI usage across both internal and external environments, encompassing on-premises and cloud infrastructures. This discovery mechanism not only includes sanctioned deployments but also addresses what is typically referred to as “shadow AI.” The scope of this discovery encompasses applications, workloads, APIs, and agents.

Another crucial aspect of this release focuses on context related to exposure. The platform correlates AI usage with various elements like infrastructure, identity, and data, emphasizing how exposure emerges within interconnected systems. This feature not only reduces extraneous noise but also identifies potential pathways for AI-related attacks.

The third crucial area centers on remediation and governance. Customers are empowered to rectify misconfigurations and secure exposed services effectively. Additionally, the platform aids in enforcing acceptable-use policies for AI, limits data exposure, and produces the necessary documentation for audits related to governance and compliance efforts.

“Tenable One brings AI exposure out of siloes and into a unified operational model for cyber risk where it can be seen, understood and reduced,” commented Eric Doerr, Chief Product Officer at Tenable. “By connecting the dots between AI risk and the larger business risk, Tenable delivers the visibility and context security leaders need for informed proactive defense.”

Tenable also highlighted findings from Gartner research, which recognized the company’s standing in AI-powered exposure assessment. A report from Gartner indicates that “Tenable achieved its front-runner status in EAP by not only leveraging its long-standing dominance in vulnerability assessment but also combining its strong asset and attack surface discovery capabilities, support for third-party telemetry ingestion, and AI.”

Additionally, Tenable was acknowledged as a Leader in Gartner’s inaugural Magic Quadrant for Exposure Assessment Platforms, securing a top position for Ability to Execute and being recognized for Completeness of Vision.

Tenable One AI Exposure offers a comprehensive view of AI visibility, contextualized exposure insights, and actionable steps for reducing exposure across environments where organizations operate AI services, while also linking these to data and identity systems.

This pivotal release is now generally available as an integral component of Tenable One.
