Bing Webmaster Tools Launches Beta for AI Performance Reports

Bing Ai Analytics

Recently, Bing has been experimenting with a new feature in Bing Webmaster Tools called the AI Performance report. This tool is designed to help users track the number of citations their websites receive from Microsoft Copilot and its partners. However, it’s important to note that while this report provides insights into citations—essentially impressions—it does not include any data about clicks originating from these Bing AI experiences.

Although Microsoft hasn’t formally announced this feature, it is currently in beta testing with a select group of trusted testers.

The AI Performance report offers various metrics, such as daily citation counts and the number of pages from your website that garnered those citations. It also includes “grounding queries,” which are not full search queries but provide insight into the original intent of the search. Users can see whether queries are navigational, informational, or fall into another category. Furthermore, the report details which specific pages received the citations.

Once again, it is crucial to emphasize that the report does not provide click data.

The report includes the following data points:

  • Citations
  • Cited Pages
  • Grounding Queries
  • Intent

While I can’t share a screenshot, the data presented is valuable; adding click data would greatly enhance its utility.

In summary, the AI Performance report offers intriguing insights into how your website is being cited by Microsoft Copilot, despite the absence of click data. It highlights essential metrics such as the number of citations and grounding queries, which are beneficial for understanding online presence and influence. Keeping track of these metrics can aid in fine-tuning your SEO strategy as Bing continues to evolve its tools.
