Discover the New Bulgari Icons Minaudière Collection

This autumn, I had the pleasure of visiting the “Bulgari Kaleidos: Colors, Cultures, and Crafts” exhibit at The National Art Center in Tokyo. The showcase featured over 350 pieces from Bulgari’s impressive 140-year archive, tracing back to its inception in 1884. This extraordinary collection included both stunning jewelry and exquisite minaudière bags. A particular evening clutch from around 1976 captivated me with its fluted gold design, adorned with sapphires and diamonds, wrapped in a stylish silk tassel. Remarkably timeless, it appeared contemporary even in the museum setting. I later learned that Bulgari plans to reintroduce a new collection of minaudière bags, which made its debut this week.

The newly launched Icons Minaudière Collection, designed by creative director Mary Katrantzou, beautifully fuses tradition with modernity. Each bag reflects Bulgari’s five iconic symbols: Monete, Serpenti, Tubogas, Divas’ Dream, and Bulgari itself. “Each minaudière was conceived not just to carry items,” Katrantzou explains, “but to convey meaning, weaving together meticulous craftsmanship with cultural narratives.” This collection is further brought to life in a campaign featuring renowned personalities like Isabella Rossellini, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Linda Evangelista, Sumayya Vally, and Kim Ji-won, all captured by photographer Ethan James Green under the artistic direction of Ferdinando Verderi.
