Feeling overwhelmed by the daily grind is all too common. Recently, life has become a whirlwind of busyness and stress, from work demands to personal projects. While I usually thrive in a busy environment, the constant pace has left me feeling drained. To combat this, I decided to carve out some personal time and focus on self-care.
I took a break from work and dedicated my day to nurturing myself. I started with a hydrating face mask, followed by indulging in a good book, enjoying some delicious meals, and staying hydrated with refreshing lemon water.
When life gets hectic, my diet tends to take a backseat. I often find myself skipping meals, which is harmful. Today, however, I treated myself to a delightful avocado and tomato toast, seasoned with sea salt and pepper.
Our juicer had been sitting unused for weeks, which felt like a waste since fresh juices are both tasty and nutritious. Determined to revive my juicing habit, I made a refreshing blend of apples, Asian pear, kale, spinach, and lemon. Don’t let the bold green color scare you; it was absolutely delicious! There’s something invigorating about consuming raw fruits and vegetables that simply uplifts your mood.
Candles are essential whenever I think about relaxation.
It’s been a long time since I delved into a novel, as I mostly read biographies or self-help books. Recently, I picked up “The Glass Kitchen” by Linda Francis-Lee. I’m excited to explore a culinary-themed story, especially since I adore cooking!
“Portia Cuthcart wakes up in her Manhattan apartment with the taste of chocolate cake in her mouth. Recognizing the strange gift that comes in the form of compulsions to bake, mix, boil, or cook any given thing at any given time, she heads to the store to pick up the ingredients. After years of ignoring her cooking talents in favor of being the perfect politician’s wife, Portia is excited and a little scared to know that her gift has come back. With the support of her two older sisters and a terrifyingly handsome investor, Portia begins to make her dream of opening a restaurant in New York City a very real possibility. With shades of The Tempest, Chocolat, and Stepmom, The Glass Kitchen is a story of redemption, rediscovery, and renewal through the marriage of love and food. Lee includes several recipes in this fun addition for book clubs and culinarily minded readers.”
I always keep several notebooks on hand; inspiration can strike at any moment! While I appreciate technology, there’s something irreplaceable about writing with a pen on paper.
Watermelon. I enjoyed it, and it was delightful.
Although many tasks still await me and emails to sort through, I feel significantly more relaxed. Guided meditations are another favorite way for me to unwind, but unfortunately, I didn’t manage to fit that in today. How do you like to relieve stress?
