Who wouldn’t want to feel a little younger?

As someone in my twenties, I feel reasonably healthy living in the energetic chaos of New York City. However, the concept of turning back time has recently piqued my curiosity. After watching “Don’t Die” on Netflix, I found myself contemplating, Can we really reverse the aging process?

Anti-aging biohacker Bryan Johnson believes the answer is yes. He claims that his Blueprint Protocol may be the key to extending our lifespan. Intrigued, I decided to try his nearly $50 hot pink Longevity Mix from Amazon. Will it prolong my life? Only time will tell, but I have reflections to share.

I know I’m not alone in fearing the aging process.

Throughout history, societal norms have focused on preserving youth—both mentally and physically—especially for women influenced by beauty standards on social media. Yet, the quest for age reversal delves deeper than mere appearances. Longevity experts are employing scientific methods to combat aging on a cellular level.

Johnson is among the forefront thinkers advocating for a shift in our understanding of healthspan—the length of time we maintain our health without major diseases or disabilities. He reportedly invests around $2 million each year in his somewhat controversial health routine, which includes a staggering 91 supplements, daily light therapy, nerve stimulation, and even plasma exchanges with his 17-year-old son.

To share his age-preserving practices with the public, Johnson launched a line of Blueprint products available on Amazon. This product line includes a $41 cocoa powder and a $35 cold-pressed olive oil, along with multivitamins, NAC supplements, and various other capsules claiming notable benefits. For health enthusiasts, there’s also a $42 meal replacement powder, offering a month’s supply of drinkable supplements and eight daily pills.

Not ready to fully commit to Johnson’s regimen? I opted for the best-selling Longevity Mix, described as condensing over 20 different capsules designed to enhance sleep, alleviate stress, and boost energy—essentially “everything your body asked for.”

While the recommendation is to wait 90 days to see results, my experience with the Longevity Mix has been only a couple of weeks thus far, but I have already noticed some striking changes.

Here are the results of my experiment. Additionally, I consulted Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Melanie Murphy Richter to separate fact from fiction and to understand how the Blueprint Longevity Mix is affecting me.

The blend claims benefits such as improved sleep, enhanced muscle recovery, and increased focus. It almost seems too good to be true.

The results are not instantaneous.

During my first week, I mixed a scoop of the Longevity Mix into my banana-apple smoothie each morning and noticed negligible changes. My sleep schedule remained inconsistent, my energy levels stayed the same, and my mood didn’t improve significantly, which I attributed to not fully adopting Johnson’s recommended lifestyle changes, like earlier bedtimes and daily sun exposure.

However, with persistence came interesting results.

One night, I fell into a deep sleep and awoke to my alarm feeling refreshed—something I hadn’t experienced in at least two years. My body must have needed this quality of rest, as I woke up energized and ready for the day.

By the end of the second week, I noticed a consistent sleep pattern, resulting in me bouncing out of bed, typing faster at work, lifting heavier at the gym, and feeling youthful energy akin to that of a 12-year-old. Regardless of whether it was placebo or not, I was impressed with the results. While I may not have taken the Longevity Mix long enough to experience further benefits, the notable improvements in my sleep and energy encourage me to keep up with it.

My only criticism of the Longevity Mix is more about the flavor than the product’s quality or ingredient potency. The formula integrates easily into liquids; however, the flavor lacks appeal, being somewhat bland, bitter, and medicinal. Notably, one reviewer described it as “God awful” and “hard to swallow.” I would recommend that Johnson work on enhancing the flavor profile and diversifying the two currently available options—blood orange and pineapple yuzu.

Aside from the flavor complaint, I’m largely satisfied with the Longevity Mix. While I haven’t noticed any physical changes, the internal benefits—particularly enhanced sleep and energy—have been remarkable. I’ve also come to terms with the nearly $50 price tag, as the extensive list of potent ingredients means I don’t have to take numerous pills each morning. In that respect, it provides good value.

  • Reduced L-Glutathione (GSH): “Known as the body’s ‘master antioxidant,’ glutathione is crucial for cellular detoxification, immune support, and reducing oxidative stress—significant factors for longevity. Notably, its reduced form is bioactive and more readily utilized by the body.”

Is the Blueprint Longevity Mix Effective for Supporting Longevity?

“This blend contains ingredients that aid mitochondrial function, reduce oxidative stress, and promote metabolic balance—all essential for longevity,” Murphy Richter explained. “However, achieving true longevity requires more than just supplementation.”

She also recommends a nutrient-dense diet, regular exercise, stress management, quality sleep, strong social connections, and intermittent fasting to activate the body’s natural repair mechanisms, including autophagy.

Autophagy is a vital cellular process that eliminates damaged components, recycling them to support renewal, thereby slowing aging, protecting against diseases, and maintaining metabolic efficiency, according to Murphy Richter.

“Although some ingredients like Ca-AKG and glutathione in this mix may help cellular health, they do not replicate the biological advantages of fasting, nutrient timing, or other established practices for longevity,” she noted.

Is There Anyone Who Should Avoid This Supplement? Potential Side Effects?

As with any dietary supplement, individual factors must be considered. Murphy Richter advised consultation with a healthcare provider for individuals with kidney issues before taking creatine, as it may increase the kidneys’ workload. She also cautioned those with shellfish allergies to verify the source of glucosamine sulfate due to some forms being derived from shellfish.

She further outlined potential side effects: “Magnesium citrate might cause mild laxative effects in sensitive individuals, L-theanine could interact with blood pressure medications due to its calming effects, and Allulose—though generally well-tolerated—may result in mild digestive discomfort in larger amounts.”
