Many candle enthusiasts find themselves with a collection of empty jars, and rather than tossing them out, there are several creative ways to give them a new purpose. In this article, we’ll explore some imaginative ideas that not only repurpose these jars but also add a touch of charm to your space.
I have a well-known fondness for candles, particularly scented ones. Bath & Body Works candles are among my favorites, and once they’re burned out, their jars become wonderful storage solutions for various items such as makeup brushes, cotton swabs, nail polishes, and eyeliners.
Last year, I tried one of those DIY projects trending online involving mod podge and glitter; it turned out to be quite the disaster. Glitter ended up everywhere in my bathroom, and the jars continued to shed sparkle all over my makeup area. So, it’s safe to say that DIY is not my strong suit. However, stepping out of my comfort zone can be refreshing. I recently transformed my office into a dual-purpose beauty room and closet. With my husband’s help, we revamped an old closet and also painted and rearranged the entire room. Does that count as DIY?
Since sparkling disaster with glitter seems inevitable, I decided to embrace the idea of reusing candle jars. I adored the Floral Bloom scented candle that came in a lovely white and pink ceramic jar. When a jar is this beautiful, all that’s needed is a cleanup, and it’s ready for use. I purchased this gem at Home Goods, and it’s from Ardan Living Essentials. While the candle’s scent wasn’t very robust while burning, I’m grateful for the lovely jar. It now holds my collection of lip balms, conveniently placed on my desk beside my computer. If you’re like many, you may find yourself purchasing numerous lip balms, and this is a brilliant way to keep them organized.
As previously mentioned, Bath and Body Works candles are my favorites, and I also cherish their jars (I’m equally fond of ScentSationals Natural Soy candles and their containers). These jars are well-sized, sturdy, and useful. I keep one on my nightstand to store my eye creams, eye drops, lip balm, and night cream. I have others that hold my makeup brushes, lipsticks, and even one dedicated to my mascaras. Another is nestled in my bathroom for skincare products. The simple, non-glitter look appeals to me; it’s minimalist, easy to clean, and manageable. I usually clean my jars when I wash my brushes and like to sanitize them with some alcohol afterward—my inner germaphobe appreciates it. The easiest way to remove leftover wax is by placing the empty jar in the freezer overnight; the wax pops right off, and I use a knife to assist if needed. Instead of discarding the last bits of wax, I melt them in my wax warmer—this is a delightful option for scented candles, of course. 😉
