BLINK Anticipated to Generate Millions for Cincinnati’s Local Economy

CINCINNATI — BLINK Festival Brings Economic Boost to Local Businesses

As the BLINK light and art festival returns to Cincinnati for a four-day weekend, local businesses are gearing up for an influx of visitors that promises a significant boost in sales.

The festival is expected to attract both tourists and locals into downtown Cincinnati and surrounding neighborhoods. Restaurants, retailers, and various businesses are already preparing for increased foot traffic.

Amy Marecia, assistant manager at Market Wines located near Findlay Market, expressed excitement about the event. “It’s always a fun event. It brings a lot of people to the market,” she noted. To accommodate the anticipated crowds, Market Wines is increasing its inventory, extending store hours, and hosting extra wine tastings throughout the weekend. Marecia appreciates the opportunity to connect with visitors from across the nation and the world and highlighted interactions with artists creating murals for the festival.

BLINK’s previous runs have demonstrated significant economic impact. According to Game Day Communications, the festival generated over $205 million in direct economic impact in 2024, creating or supporting roughly 3,500 jobs. The spending reaches beyond the festival, benefiting hotels, restaurants, and retail businesses as visitors explore the city.

At Carl’s Deli, the staff is preparing for heightened demand by increasing food production. Assistant manager Cameron Kurz stated, “We’re slicing extra, we’re making extra sides.” She emphasized the importance of such events for locally owned businesses, calling them “the fabric of this city.” Kurz encouraged visitors to support local businesses while enjoying the festival.

For Cincinnati’s local businesses, the hope is that the crowds from BLINK will lead to more customers, increased sales, and contribute to the city’s economy significantly.
