As the leaves turn and the air becomes crisp, fall brings a cozy charm that many of us eagerly anticipate. From snuggly clothing to delightful scents, here are some autumn favorites that create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The first item to mention has to be my portable heater. I wish I could take it with me everywhere since I’m perpetually cold. My heated blanket is also a must-have; we are practically inseparable! If you experience neck or back pain, I highly recommend getting one.
Loving: Yuzu Body Butter, Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet in Oxblood, Pillow Talk lipstick, and Armani’s Luminous Silk foundation.
I have a bit of a candle obsession, and while I enjoy them year-round, there’s something magical about burning them in the colder months. My go-to scents are the earthy and warm aromas. My all-time favorite is the Black Bamboo from Village Candles. Recently, I’ve also discovered Molton Brown’s Russian Leather*, which is perfect for autumn. This scent evokes memories of a cozy campfire, featuring notes of black tea, purple basil, Siberian pine, birch, tobacco, and leather. If you enjoy woody fragrances, you must try this.
During the summer, my experience with Tazorac was relatively issue-free; however, as the seasons changed, I noticed my skin became more reactive, resulting in irritation and dryness. When my skin appears red and blotchy, I typically avoid applying anything other than my go-to Cetaphil in a tub. On particularly irritated days, I reach for my Jade Roller. This soothing tool calms my skin, offering immediate relief and reducing puffiness. It feels as refreshing as placing a burned hand under cold water when my face feels heated from irritation.
I recently incorporated Paula’s Choice Perfect Cleansing Oil* into my skincare routine for makeup removal, and I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s lightweight and rinses off easily, making it an excellent alternative to the heavier Jojoba Oil, which I typically use in the colder months. While it handles everyday makeup effortlessly, I’m unsure how it would perform with heavy makeup, but I do love the convenient pump packaging.
A good hydrating mask is essential during this season too. One of my current favorites is the Erno Laszlo Sleep Mask* (which I previously discussed in this post). Its unique, bouncy formula nourishes the skin without causing irritation, leaving it soft and hydrated by morning.
As fall sets in, I can’t imagine my wardrobe without long cardigans. Being perpetually cold, I often find myself sleeping in socks! Since my back injury prevents me from wearing heels, I’m now on the hunt for comfortable shoes. Recently, I discovered a pair of the most comfortable booties—Barris Block Heel Booties. Despite their block heel, they do not aggravate my back, ensuring utmost comfort for everyday wear. I love that they retain their shape and don’t stretch out.
Additionally, I indulged in some stunning Velvet Jordaan Gucci Loafers as a treat for myself after a challenging few months. They serve as a stylish high-heel alternative for the office while remaining very comfortable and versatile. If you’re on the lookout for similar shoes, Steve Madden offers a comparable loafer.
Lastly, I must highlight this Mango Handbag. It is spacious yet lightweight, in my favorite color (black, of course). Featuring a shoulder strap, it has become my back’s best friend. This handbag fits my work folders, MacBook Air, a small makeup bag, snacks, and all the essentials I carry—though I’ve noticed a significant decrease in the quantity I take since my lifestyle changes. Sometimes, I wish I could carry my entire house with me! Can anyone else relate?
