Specifically, this experience revolved around the launch of The Savoy: American Bar Journal. Developed by Head Bartender Chelsie Bailey and her outstanding team, this groundbreaking cocktail menu promises to captivate and enchant guests, just as it did for us.

For over 100 years, The Savoy’s esteemed bartenders have mixed exquisite drinks and chronicled the essence of each day within the walls of the iconic American Bar. This rich tradition has now been transformed into liquid form, resulting in The Savoy: American Bar Journal. This compilation not only highlights cherished bartending techniques but also pays tribute to the bar’s illustrious history, integral to The Savoy experience since its beginning.

The Savoy Cocktail Book

The menu’s design pays tribute to The Savoy Cocktail Book, a legendary anthology of beverages. Its clean layout is appealing, with each cocktail accompanied by an index illustrating its inspiration. Blending modern flair with classic recipes, the menu infuses an homage to pivotal historical moments, offering a sip-worthy journey that reflects the past, present, and future of bartending at The Savoy.

We rediscovered nostalgic cocktails reimagined with contemporary techniques and vibrant flavors. A standout is the New York Cherub, a modern take on the classic ‘Angel Wings’ cocktail, featuring a delightful mix of Rabbit Hole Rye Whiskey, Bowmore 15-Year-Old Whisky, raspberry, Discarded Vermouth, Maraschino Liqueur, and Spiced Violette Bitters.

On the historical front, the Coffee Black Velvet presents a modern interpretation of a cocktail dating back to 1861, originally crafted in honor of Prince Albert. This new version combines Guinness Coffee Whey, Crème De Cassis, and roasted barley, resulting in a drink rich in depth and complexity.

The menu not only showcases classic recipes but also features creative cocktails that celebrate contemporary achievements. One such drink is the Homecoming cocktail, a refreshing combination of Lion’s Botanical, Dry Vermouth, St. Germain Elderflower, and Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé. This cocktail commemorates the Lionesses’ historic Euro 2022 victory and supports their endeavors in the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Additionally, cocktails like the Fine & Fancy tell stories of the diverse guests who enliven The Savoy. This drink pays homage to the charismatic Maggie, capturing her spirit with a playful twist on her well-known saying, blending whisky and ginger—her favored drink—with thyme, honey, Suze gentian, and Nyetimber Classic Cuvee for a captivating sensory experience.

Utilizing a cutting-edge closed-loop technology, this collaboration dramatically decreases the carbon footprint related to cocktails, aligning with The Savoy’s commitment to environmentally responsible practices. Those eco-conscious drinks are marked with a green tree symbol on the menu, ensuring each sip is as enjoyable to the palate as it is kind to the planet.
