Welcome to this month’s edition of Ape to Gentleman’s Top 10 feature, where we present a selection of trends, insights, and advice tailored to elevate your lifestyle.
In this installment, we’ve gathered ten must-know topics, ranging from the latest fashion releases to thrilling motorcycles and new fragrances. Whether you’re looking to revamp your wardrobe, boost your grooming routine, or simply keep up with the newest offerings, we have you covered.
Let’s dive in and make June your most stylish, successful, and gratifying month.
Maeving RM1S Blackout
There’s a lot to appreciate about the Maeving RM1S Blackout. Crafted by an electric motorcycle brand in Coventry, founded by university friends William Stirrup and Seb Inglis-Jones in 2018, this limited edition (only 100 units) enhances their classic, vintage-inspired RM1 and RM1S models.
Featuring a sleek matte black finish and a unique design that accommodates removable battery packs, the bike also offers 10L of onboard storage, stylish bar end mirrors, an LED headlight, and an analogue speedometer.
With a range of 90 miles and a top speed of 70 mph, it’s an enticing choice for anyone searching for an eye-catching city cruiser.
Casa Baru Double Crop Aged Rum
This month, our focus returns to the world of rum, specifically highlighting Panama’s Casa Baru. Distilled in the scenic Chiriquí Highlands using local sugarcane and syrup, they offer both white and dark variations.
The standout is undoubtedly the Double Crop (dark), a pot-stilled, barrel-aged rum with an infusion of Geisha coffee fruit, presenting a complexity reminiscent of malt whisky rather than your average sugarcane spirit.
If vodka isn’t your go-to—even in cocktails—give this a try: shake 45ml of Double Crop, 30ml of Casa Baru’s Xopa Coffee Liqueur, and 30ml of cooled espresso until frothy. The result? An extraordinary, layered beverage that’s sure to impress.

28 Years Later
Danny Boyle transformed the genre when he introduced zombies that actually run. Before 28 Days Later (2002), the undead tended to be slow-moving figures—often portrayed as comedic relief, a concept brilliantly tackled in Shaun of the Dead. Now, 23 years later, Boyle is making a return.
This month, we await the release of 28 Years Later, rumored to kick off a new multi-part saga. With a star-studded cast including Jodie Comer, Jack O’Connell, Ralph Fiennes, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the plot follows a father and son leaving the safety of their fortified island to embark on a journey back to the mainland.

De Bonne Facture
We discovered De Bonne Facture while searching for linen shirts and trousers. While their pieces may come at a premium, both the aesthetic and philosophy resonate with us. They emphasize clean lines, durable materials, and the idea that clothing should gracefully evolve with wear.
These are garments meant to be lived in, not just worn. DBF’s Subtle Shades of Linen collection brings together a refined selection of earthy-toned essentials that embody a timeless and understated elegance. Perfect for mixing, matching, and staying cool this summer.
Liverpool Biennial

The Liverpool Biennial, the UK’s largest free contemporary art festival, kicks off this month, running from 7 June to 15 September. This year’s festival, titled ‘Bedrock’ and curated by Marie-Anne McQuay, will spotlight an array of visual arts dispersed throughout historic sites, art institutions, and underappreciated venues, featuring a diverse roster of international artists.
In previous years, the festival has adorned buildings, illuminated skateparks, painted ferries, and transformed Crosby Beach into a notable art destination. We’re eager to see what this year’s event brings, and we’ll take the chance to explore the vibrant food and drink scene in the city while we’re there.
Fujifilm X Half
This Fujifilm piece is undeniably stylish. It may not be the top choice for novices, given its complexity, but if you have a solid understanding of photography and seek something lightweight, hands-on, and creatively stimulating, this vintage-inspired gem is a perfect match.
Compact and available in three color options, it features focus and aperture rings and outstanding ergonomics, capable of shooting video—all in a 3:4 ratio. While it might cater more to enthusiasts, it is undoubtedly an exquisite piece of equipment.
Running The Light by Sam Tallent
Has White Rabbit become the A24 of literature? Perhaps a discussion for another day. Recently, we’ve noticed that if a unique and engaging book is being released, White Rabbit is often behind it.
Sam Tallent’s Running The Light, a work of autofiction, has been described as “a bleak, hilarious, and bruising exploration of regret, delusion, and the explosion of the soul” (Sam Lipsyte). It recounts the turbulent touring life of a once-promising comedian as he spirals through small-town America.
This is a must-read for the month ahead.
Orlebar Brown Summer Collection
We hope your summer wardrobe is all set—neatly curated, properly stored, and ready for poolside adventures. However, if it’s still a work in progress, Orlebar Brown’s latest collection provides ample last-minute inspiration.
Imagine White Lotus season two-inspired shirts, tailored printed swim shorts, and enough choices to satisfy the ongoing debate about inseam length (we are advocates for the “shorter is better” philosophy). There’s a lot to explore here—quite literally.
Bleu De Chanel All-Over Fragrance Balm
This limited-edition multi-purpose balm for hands, hair, and beard not only smells fantastic but also serves a practical purpose. Suitable for all skin types, Chanel’s all-over fragrance balm hydrates skin and facial hair while delivering the aromatic woody notes of the original scent.
Its luxurious, dense formula spreads evenly, providing a refreshing burst of fragrance as needed. An ideal addition to your weekend bag or on-the-go essentials.
Portuguese Flannel Lookbook 2
This month, our aspiration is to embody the effortlessly chic man featured in Portuguese Flannel’s latest lookbook. He appears relaxed and dapper: sporting colorful, patterned shirts paired with lightweight linens and casual silhouettes.
He enjoys solitude while making salads, likely with a few excellent bottles stashed beneath his abode, effortlessly styled with tassel loafers, cotton chinos, and a layered overshirt ensemble when he ventures into town.
A narrative of the good life expressed through clothing.
